In a place where everyone begins again without a past, Simón takes responsibility for David, a child he meets on the crossing to a new life. Driven by an inexplicable conviction, he sets out to find the boy’s mother and recognizes Inés as the right woman. She accepts, and an unlikely bond forms between them, where the idea of family is constantly reinvented. But as society imposes rules and treats difference as a threat, David resists being shaped and stands as its opposite: imagination and freedom, turning parenthood into an uncertain journey, a search without answers, where to love is also to accept not understanding.

AQUÍ, by Tiago Guedes, in the Official Selection at Cannes 2026
AQUÍ, the new film by Tiago Guedes, will be part of the Official Selection of the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival (May 12 to 23, 2026). AQUÍ, Tiago Guedes’ adaptation of the “Jesus Trilogy” by Nobel Prize-winning author J. M. Coetzee, will be part of the Cannes Première section, the most important selection of the festival alongside the Competition, and will screen on May 18, 8:15 PM, at the Debussy Theatre, in the presence of the director, the actors, producer Paulo Branco and writer J. M. Coetzee.
