The press is delighted by POET!

The release of Poet on the same day as Avatar may have made people smile, but the press was delighted by the return of Darezhan Omirbayev in this new film:

"Aiming for purity, the mise en scène relies on the elementary data of the fixed shot, the variation of axis and the ellipse, allowing itself at most some panning and even rarer travellings - a moral economy of the gaze that faithfully restores the beings in their environment, in contact with the world. Omirbaev does not impose a ready-made discourse, but lets the places speak for him. Cahiers du Cinéma

"The film tells of their double solitude, their awareness of being of so little weight in front of the erasure of their culture, laminated by the language of empires and by the furious madness of consumerism. Not to be missed. Le Monde

"Soberly titled Poet, Darezhan Omirbayev's new film has, like its predecessors, the limpidity of a mathematical demonstration." Positif

"For the filmmaker, poetry alone remains forever a tool of subversion." Transfuge

"Like its character, the film is obstinate and never deviates from its line: even more than a struggle, poetry appears as an enterprise of resistance that consists in detecting, within the capitalist machine itself, the beauty nestled in the most trivial elements." Critikat

"Poet certainly takes sides (for poetry). But rather than pretentiously mocking smartphones and apathetic shopping malls, he looks at the beautiful and the good, without cynicism." First

"A magnificent ode to the power of the creative Word in the face of consumerism." Les Fiches du Cinéma
